Sondhi Limthongkul Resigns as New Politics Party Leader

Sondhi Limthongkul appears on ASTV for the first time in months. He's announced his decision to step down as leader of the New Politics Party. He explained that he needed to take up the post as New Politics Party to allow the party to be establish. He estimates that the New Politics Party could get as many as 50 seats.

More M79 Attacks: Army Bunker and Pathunam Area

More M79 attacks took place, one was aimed at an army bunker in Bon Kai area and four more exploded in Pathunam area where a clash is taking place between security officers and anti-government red-shirt protesters.

Civil Court Dismiss Red-shirts Petition against Use of Force to Disperse Protesters

The Civil Court has dismissed the red-shirts' petition for the court to prohibit the government from using force to disperse the anti-government protesters.

The court explained that the matter is under the jurisdiction of the administrative branch of the country.

The Civil Court has rejected a request submitted by the red shirt protesters for an injunction to stop the military crackdown.

The court rejected the request on grounds that the government has the administrative right to keep peace in the country.

CRES Claims 500 Terrorists Amidst Protesters

The Center for the Resolution of Emergency Situations claims that it has intelligence that as many as 500 armed terrorists are now among the red shirt protesters.

Officials say they will continue with their crackdown and will start using harsher measures if protesters refuse to disperse within two days.

@bangkokpundit P1: ThaiPBS just showed a video of a group of ppl (reds?) in Din Daeng stopping army vehicle. Some throw punches at the soldiers,

@bangkokpundit P2: others were trying to stop them, but still a few punches thrown. Then boom, sound of gunfire away from cam, 1 solider goes down

4 More M79 Grenades Land in the Phratunam Area

Reports indicate that another round of M79 attacks have taken place in the central Bangkok district.

Four grenades have landed in the Phratunam area. No injuries have been reported so far.
