Visa Collection Regent House

Recommended Posts

evening all,

My wife has finally heard back from the embassy regarding her settlement visa for the UK. So she travelled down to Bangkok today, only to find that regent house was closed because of the protests. Looking on the website for regent house it says that they are closed and not taking applications. But what is the situation with collecting passports. Because my wife is hoping to travel to the UK over the weekend should the visa have been granted.

Is they anyway that the passport could be sent out but courier or collected from a different area, the staff on the phone mentioned that she could collect from the main Embassy, so she will check this tomorrow. But does anybody have any information or contacts that would be able to help out in this situation.

I understand that the closure is down to the red shirts, but gods knows how long this will go on for going by the past 8 weeks. As i sure you cant believe the waiting is now killing us after waiting for the visa to come back we just dont need these extras days of waiting and soon to be weekend :). Or even if they was a way just to see if the visa had been granted or not in this situation, at least then we could start to plan for flights and the like.

Any advice or help you could give would be most welcomed.

Regards

:)

The honest truth is that no one can really tell. The British embassy said:

A British embassy spokeswoman said visa and consular services would be closed Friday and officials would review the situation daily until reopening.

All I can say is that the situation is volitile, and nobody really knows what will happen after today's events.

I would guess that there won't be any services until Monday at the very earliest....but that is just a guess. Much will be determined by what happens in the next 24 to 48 hours I believe.

Beyond that, no one knows what will happen.

All you can do is check the website early on monday morning. http://www.vfs-uk-th.com/news.aspx

If they are open, they will almost definately update the website approx 8am - 10am Thai time.

They don't hand out the passports till after 3pm, so plenty of time for you to call your wife and tell her to go to Bangkok. Or tell the missus to call them every day at 9am.

As far as I'm aware (although I could be wrong) VFS collect and forward the applications which are then dealt with by ECO's - UK Border Agency Staff at the British Embassy.

Here:

http://ukinthailand.fco.gov.uk/en/news/?vi...amp;id=22216331

it states:

The Embassy's visa section is running a skeleton service and has limited capacity for processing visa applications. As a result, customers may experience delays in the processing of their visa application.

Although here:

http://www.fco.gov.uk/en/news/latest-news/...amp;id=22222405

It says they'll be closed tomorrow :)

I guess not much work will be done in the next few days or until the situation calms down.
