Thaksin Shinawatra is alive and in Paris...

A well known Dutch columnist, Mr. Rob Hoogland, who writes his column every day in Holland's largest Dutch newspaper, De Telegraaf, wrote at the end of his column of today, Saturday May 15th 2010, on Page 3 of the paper as follows:

free translation:

".....because when I walked past the Hermes shop on Rue de Faubourg Saint-Honoré *, I suddenly met, surrounded by members of his group, Thaksin Shinawatra, former Thai Prime Minister of whom many believe he is the financier of the current uprising in Bangkok. His bodyguards were stopping me when I wanted to ask him a question. There are lots of bodyguards nowadays."

(the last sentence was about something else in the column)

It didn't say when exactly he met Mr. Shinawatra but I have checked some of the facts he was mentioning in his article (which was about the enormous publicity regarding the sole survivor -a Dutch boy of 9- of the airplane crash in Libya, last Thursday morning) but it must have been yesterday according to the article and probably in the late evening of Friday May 14th, maybe even after midnight since the columnist speaks about "today" when he wrote that Saturday (May 15th) the Week of the house pet in Holland starts.

There is/was no reason whatsoever why this columnist would joke or lie about his unexpected (non)-meeting with Thaksin Shinawatra since the column was actually about something totally different.

Only the coincidence of "bodyguards" in Thaksin's case and the co called "bodyguards" in the article was the triggering point why he would mention his encounter since I can't see any other reason why Thaksin's encounter was mentioned.

SO: Thaksin is alive contrary to the many rumours in the Thai press and on this forum.
