Morale is running out, warn southern women

BANGKOK: -- Muslim and Buddhist women from Thailand's volatile southern border region today warned Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Pol. Gen. Chidchai Vanasatidya that their morale was running out, and that they almost felt like giving up the struggle against the insurgency.

The group of 129 women, who were in Bangkok for a women’s leadership course, told reporters after meeting the deputy premier that the government should address the region’s problems by turning to Her Majesty the Queen’s approach of ‘understanding, access and development’.

Warning that their morale was at an ebb, they said that more than a year of fighting in the region had made them want to give up.

Pol. Gen. Chidchai responded by giving assurances that the government was working to address the region’s problems through peaceful means, while urging the women to ensure that young people living in the region did not become caught up in the insurgency.

He also called on local people with information on the militants to address confidential letters to him in person, while promising to provide assistance to local residents.

Close down all Mosques/Madrasses and problem solved

    These are just brainwashing centers

Thats an idea.

A better one would be to ban religion totally throught the world and then no one would have a problem would they?

Have you been to every Mosque and Madrassa in Thailand to prove this theory? :o

I think the world would be better off if people started seriously asking the question, "Who really should control the gov't in a particular place here on the planet earth?"

Why is one group of people considered to be the 'legitimate' gov't of some geographical region and another group is not? Governments never want people to think too much about this because people might want to change their governments in a fundamental way.

A lot of young people were killed at Tak Bai and the spiral of revenge has a long way to play out. Luckily for us that so far all the violence is localised and hasn't spread.
