Visa - Work Permit - Extention

Featured Replies

Greetings all,

Here is my plan ....

1) Go to Laos and get a single entry Non-Imm visa.

2) Pick up my work permit in BKK.

3) Straight away get a 1 year extention of stay and a re-entry permit.

4) In a few weeks go for a holiday to Cambodia.

Are all my assumptions right?

- That I can only get a single entry visa in Laos

- That I can not get a re-entry permit on a single entry visa

- That I can straight away get a 1 year extention (when I pick up my work permit) allowing me to get a re-entry permit.

Cheers,

Hayden

You'll need to show a WP3 (prof that you have applied for WP) to get a single entry non-B

You should be able to get a re-entry permit on a single entry visa.

They may not let you extend it until the last 30 days.

I have the receipt from the work permit people and a letter from my prospective employer. This seemed to all be enough when I went to Laos the other week (in fact all they were interested in was the letter from the employer) - my application was accepted and was nearly sent to be processed. I took my application back though when I realised that the Friday was a public holiday as I needed to be back in Thailand before the Monday. So this will be attempt number 2 to get my visa :)

My query was mainly about my assumptions though.

Cheers,

Hayden

Cheers for that. Any confirmation on being able to get that re-entry?

You can obtain a re-entry for any entry - but it is only valid for the time remaining on your current permitted to stay stamp and does not add anything.

For extension of stay you will need to meet the normal requirements and normally application is made during the last 30 days of permitted entry.

That's excellent. Thanks everyone.

So my plan only changes slightly in that I don't have to be on an extention to get a re-entry.

Thanks again :)

Hayden
