Honda Crv Factory Installed Gvn 53

Featured Replies

Hello all,

I am very unfamiliar with how the different GPS units work.

I have a factory installed unit in my Honda CRV Prestige. In my unit - GVN 53, I have found that they have installed Thailand City Navigator v8.0, Beta Software 2.21, Audio Version American English v2.00, Thai route base map 3.00.

Is there any updated maps that I can install myself?

I serviced my car two days ago at Honda Chonburi, they told me there are no updates. Can this really be true?

Can I install other types of more current maps into my unit or does the map need to be compatible with the unit itself?

Attaching a few screen shots of my unit.

Any one that is willing to educate me in this?

All answers are highly appreciated.

Thanks,

Edh

1. Correct, Thailand City Navigator is a discontinued map. It's at least 2-3 years old.

2. City Navigator Southeastern Asia NT is the replacement map.

3. ESRI Thailand Street Map may work with your Garmin GPS.

3. You will need to find somebody who can update your Garmin GVN53 for you.

4. Honda may have a licensing arrangement with Garmin for any firmware and/or map upgrades.

Yes, ESRI map should work with GVN53. If it's available in SD card, you can purchase it and just "plug n play".

For City Navigator® Southeast Asia NT in SD card, you can purchase it here: City Navigator Southeastern Asia NT -

Thanks dvdpro and InterestedObserver for your replies.

I am located in Pattaya area, any shops around here where you could purchase the updated map and have them to install?

Thanks,

Edh

If you live in the Pattaya area I'd wait until the next map updates are released. None of the current maps (Garmin, ESRI or Rotweiler) have the new Route 7 link to Central Pattaya, Sukhumvit Road plotted.

edh, I looked carefully at your screen shots and noticed that they clearly indicate that ESRI (Thailand) Co., Ltd. provided the original map. Contact them directly about updating to the latest version of their Thailand Street Map and see what they have to say. http://www.gpssociety.com/_En/Default_En.aspx
