Arrogant

Featured Replies

Looking on thailanguage.com,I come across several words for 'arrogant" including pay yong, and Ying.

Which word is better used, say in this sentence, 'You are arrogant"

Would it be "Khun ying" or Khun pay yong" ?

Thanks to all

I would say "phom rusyg wa khun pen khon johng hong"--I feel that you are an arrogant person.

Lexitron has the following sample sentence:

เขาหยิ่งจนไม่ยอมพูดกับใคร

khǎw yìŋ con mây yɔɔm phûut kàp khray

He is so conceited that he won't even talk to anyone.

Johng hong is rarely used by Thais but it a strong word that fits perfectly in the above short sentence. If you really want to say that to a Thai?... Not a lightly used phrase that

A similar line using ying from learnthaipodcast.

She won't come to talk with us. She is so arrogant.

เขา ไม่ มา คุย กับ พวกเรา หรอก เขา หยิ่ง จะตายไป

kháo mâi maa khuy kàp phûak-rao ràwk kháo yìng jà-taay pai
