naboo
2nd hand, go private, avoid dealers at all costs. Unbelievably overpriced. I paid 15k for a 2 year old Wave with 16k on it. They're pretty easy to find, just mention to a few people you're after a bike, someone will know someone.
carnac
Go for a 125. You'll be glad you did.
mrclough
I would suggest the 125 Wave i. There's a bike market behind Rimping supermarket every weekend and there's always loads of waves for sale of various ages and prices if your looking 2nd hand. I would also advise keeping a regular check on the classified section within thai visa. There's also other sites you can check but I'd probably get banned or something for mentioning em here lol. If you can read thai or has someone who can I would suggest looking on www.mocyc.com You can work your way around it using the google translate option which is on the site but it really doesn't translate the information very well at all. For a new one, I would suggest any of the Honda dealers would be fine. I don't think there's much in the way of different prices between them although I may be wrong. I have a friend who has bought his last 2 from Niyom near the airport and is very happy with the service there. Just a quick note though, be sure to have a residency permit when you buy one so you can register it in your name.
Hachi
Natty, for what this may be worth to you - here's my recent experience with Honda shopping in CM. TGF & I recently did the tour round the city seeking a Honda dealer who wanted to sell a 110i Wave. Even going back to where I purchased my new Phantom (Huay Keow Rd Honda) I found them to be next to useless for new sales. Also had many returns there after they "serviced" the Phantom & old wave. As most salesmen/girls at various dealerships were too busy chatting amongst themselves / playing computer games / applying make up alternating with TV watching, etc..we finally ended up at the Honda dealer (Seang Chai Panit) on the right hand side of Kaew Naowarat road (#100/4), heading towards to the Arcade bus station. (Just go over Nakornping bridge and down a bit) What a surprise - immediately greeted by a smiling knowledgeable saleslady upon entering the showroom - shown various models, colours of the 110i Wave. Decided on a model, colour & accessories, haggled a fair deal - done. Escorted to another area for payment, smiling, attentive, interested staff. Paid the agreed cash price, escorted to the air con, TV & free computer/internet waiting area, drinks supplied. Apx 20 minutes later was called outside where a male staff member showed us the new bike, gave us a familiarisation tour round the new model, paperwork all done. We went back inside and I asked to speak with the manager. The staff all looked rather unsure why I was asking to see him. He was asked out of his office and sat down in front of me, where I told him he has an excellent shop, staffed by knowledgeable and attentive workers who know how to take care of customers. He looked somewhat perplexed (he understood English fine) as I continued to let him know amongst other things - a lot of our good experience there was due to his management skills. Everyone was beaming, we shook hands & left. Went back recently for the 1st service, again no complaints and fast, efficient service. First time for everything I suppose! By the way the 110i seems to be a step up in improvement from our old 100cc Wave which we sold privately. Better fuel economy too. uptoyoumyfriend
bought mine ,a 125 dream at the dealer on mahidol i think n.panit, on the way from the airport to the moat next to a toyota dealer 3 years ago.every time i go back there for minor adjustments and servicing they do it right away and free,no discussions. repairs ,i had an old model before, were always reasonable and professional. however a friend of mine who rides by himself mostly and bought there at my recommendation pointed out to me that he gets much better mileage on his 100 wave ,fuel injected, than the measely 100 miles to the gallon my dream offers. the 110 has plenty of power unless you want to go into the mountains with a passenger often. used i think so too is better from private people.i would get a honda. martijn12345
I've tried various Honda dealers to give me a good deal on a new Wave, none were interested in giving any discount or any fair credit deal. So I bought 2th hand as well. Yes maybe you pay a bit more then when you buy privately. But you can always go back to the shop when there is something wrong, been a few times with minor things, never a problem... They fixed it straight away for free. I know another shop probably charges you the enormous amount of 28 baht to fix that small thing, but I like the service

As mentioned above, the service is fantastic. Price is more than fair and I will be using these guys before considering anywhere else for my biking needs. On a side note to the OP, they have some second hand machines on sale in this dealers and, although you may find cheaper private, judging by Hachi & my experience here it may be worth at least taking a look
