How To Proceed Frm Airport(don Muang) To Hotel

Featured Replies

Hi mates! its the first time i'm going to bangkok and hope you all can give me some help. Can you all tell me the all the ways travel frm the airport to hotel in city centre and tell me which one is the best(most of you use it)Tks in advance mates

The cheapest option is the A3 Airport bus which leaves every 20 minutes from straight outside the arrivals hall cost 100 baht which will drop you within walking distance of most of the Sukhumvit Road hotels.

As it's your first time you're probably better off getting a taxi so that you're dropped off at the door rather than just nearby. One piece of advice don't get a taxi from one of the booking desks inside the arrivals hall (fixed cost 650 baht +) walk outside turn left and get one from the booking desk at the bottom of the pedestrian ramp yopu can't miss it (they charge metre + 50 baht) it will work out at about 250 baht.

The cheapest way into town is on the railroad. There is a station right at the airport. But the train is not very flexible as to where it goes on account of it needs to follow the tracks. haha Another cheap way is to walk out of the airport over the skybridge and walk on out into the city and get on a city bus. This is a very flexible option but unless you are very familiar with the bus system it could take several days to figure out where you have been and where you are going. haha

Anyway these are two ways to get to the hotel from the airport which are often/usually overlooked...so you can tell right away that probably a majoritiy of us don't use them. haha

Most upper end hotels will pick you up.

Get a bus to Kao San Rd and either stay on until it gets there or get out at Victory Monument and go somewhere decent like I did on May 16th 2003.

Where was that...?? a certain couple of areas on Suk by any chance..? :D

totster :o

Use the Hotel Limo service. If your hotel doesn't have a limo change hotels or stay home until you have enought money to do it right!

Best way I found was to get a lift up to the level where the taxi,s drop customers off, and get a taxi there. Second best in my opinion is the 50b one. My tip is try not to look like a 1st timer or you may be ripped off. Have a great time, I,m jealous.

Go to Soi Cowboy by taxi, meet a girl, go back to her place - hotel not required. :o

Find Thai lady on chat room. Have her pick you up at the airport. :D

No seriously as you can see from the earlier posts there are a number of ways you can use.

City Bus – not convenient or easy for first time visitor

Airport Bus – not a bad option – but exactly user friendly on the drop off end

Train – not convenient in many ways even for a regular visitor

Regular taxi – more expensive than the above but a sure bet to get you to the door of your hotel. (250 baht or so)

Hire car – most expensive, but also surefire way to land you at the door of your hotel, and generally faster than waiting in line for a regular taxi (500-700 baht).

One poster mentioned going up to the departure level – sure to save a few baht, but also probably not the best bet for a first time visitor who just wants to get to the hotel.

I would recommend either the regular taxi or the hire car/taxi from the booking desk. Either of these are the easiest way for a first time visitor. The advantage to a “hire car” is less hassle, the disadvantage is cost (but for less than $20 bucks you get to the hotel faster than the other ways and don’t have to wait in any line). As long as you know going in you are paying a premium for the convenience the no worries. :o
