Hello to all

Can anyone help with a tour company that will take three of us to Angkor Wat in Cambodia. We will be travelling from Pattaya on Sept 25th returning on the 27th If you have a friend or relative that can organise transportation to Angkor Wat I will arrange my own hotel. Just need a good driver & a mini bus. If anyone can suggest average prices for a trip like this I would be most grateful.

why not just fly into Siem Reap on the cheap through Bangkok Air. stay at the Two Dragon's Guesthouse. they'll pick you up at the airport and take you to the guesthouse and also provide a driver that will take you around the temple complexes.

or... are you looking to spend some cash and aren't concerned about budget? for such a short time, driving will really chew up the hours when you could fly there in 1.

Two days bouncing around on rural Thai and Cambodian roads for one day looking around Angkor? For a start to do it justtice you need two or three days and for seconds you'll be knackered.

However I think anothertorres is wide of the mark associating "on the cheap" with Bnagkok Air to Siem Reap. They may have changed but I doubt it, they were always bluddy expensive being the only airline on this route. But anyhow it preferrable over the overland option.

There is a small tourist booth in soi 13 that offers a minibus to SR for 1600 Baht, or they did late last year.

I've stayed at the Two Dragons and it is a nice place to stay. If memory serves, I stayed in the nicer rooms and they were $20 USD/night and their restaurant has very good food.

As to a driver/guide, I would suggest a gentleman named Titan, he was studying to become a guide when I went to Angkor last year and I believe he has now finished the course and is a full fledged guide. He has an SUV and quite good English. He's very laid back and will take you to other places than Angkor. We actually decided to not use a guide on our second day in Siam Reap, it was just too much detail on the first day and the day was way too long. On the second day, we just hired Titan and he took us to quite a few Temples and other places and let us go at our pace, it was a much better day! He also provided transportation to the airport when we left. Fair rates and no problems. The Two Dragons can provide you his contact info, if not then PM me and I will search through my emails for his info

Car with driver from Pattaya to border is about 2500 Baht. Allow 3.5 hours. Allow 1 hour to cross border. Another car from Poipet to Siam Reap costs 25 Usd. Allow 1.5 hours. Hotel can arrange.

Other advice which you did not request.

1 --- Agree prices above before you start.

2 --- Check all of your Thai visas for more than 1 entry, before you leave. You may also be asked to show proof of how you propose to leave Thailand ---- so bring your flight tickets.

3 --- You are not allowing enough time for Siam Reap and Angkor Wat. Suggest you visit Museum first day. They have earphones with multiple languages, which will explain a lot to you. Suggest you visit Angkor Wat the next day. Hotel can arrange tuk-tuk for about 15 Usd ---- Collect you at 5.30 am --- and by 11 am you will be watted out.

Enjoy and have fun.
