Extension Of Non O In Samui?

Featured Replies

hello,

i have a non o that is valid untill feb 2011,my next visa run is due on the 31 july when my 3 months is up. i have to fly home in an emergency on 11 aug. can i extend my visa for 2 weeks/ a month(?)in samui to save me going to malaysia border? i know it will cost about the same but i cant be bothered to go all the way to the border if its not necessary! i am not married but apply for non o every year in the UK.

I do not know of any extension available from immigration for a 90 day permission to stay stamp. Your multiple-entry non-immigrant "O" visa is supposedly still valid.

Nothing more than 7 days would be available unless you have Thai family or medical reasons or such.

I have a Thai partner, although we are not married. My son is half Thai but does not have a thai birth certificate. He is registered on my partners Tabinbaan though. Is that sufficient to get a longer extension? My Partner or his mother would be able to come with me to Samui if this would help?

I suspect a Thai birth certificate would be a requirement (but also for registration on blue book) so you could give it a try. A Thai birth certificate should really be obtained from country where birth was recorded/Thai Embassy as is likely the single most important document anyone ever has. That would be a 60 day extension of stay. Mother and child would likely have to be with you and the blue book.

Just out of curiosity, how old is this half Thai son that has no Thai birth certificate but is listed on a your partner's Tabien Baan?

He is 8 months old. Was born in England and have been back in Thailand for 5 months. Im having difficulty getting him a thai passport/birth certificate as his father wasn't with me in the UK to register his birth. They do have the same surname though.

The question is if you are in contact with the father right now.

The child can still get a Thai birth certificate, but it must be gotten from the embassy in the UK and then the child can get a Thai passport. The details etc. of both parents are needed for that.

It might be that you can apply for the Thai Birth certificate at the consular section of the Thai ministry of foreign affairs, they will than send the application to the embassy and you will receive the birth certificate from them, but without having to go to the UK. (I only know of 1 case who did it this way, so I'm not sure about the procedure).
