Can anyone who has previously traveled to the UK please advise is there such a thing as an extra luggage allowance for settlement visa holders to the UK?

I know that when i migrated to australia in the 90's that i was granted an extra 20 kilos on top of my 20kilo allowance, is there such a thing that exist today for travel to the UK.? If not how do you guys go about getting extra kilos to the uk without being stung big time?

Advise is appreciated greatly

Cheers

not 100% sure but airlines have nothing to do with whatever visa you have si i would say if you want to bring extra luggage you will pay the airlines going rates,

depending on what class ot ticket you buy you get more weight.

i know for a fact thai do economy tickets in different classes and you get 20kg's or 30kg's bussiness class get a different weight to economy.

excess baggage charge is very expensive.

contact the airlines to find out. their policies on it

Emirates allow 30kg for Ecomony, 40kg for bussiness and 50kg for First Class

Pretty sure thats the best around at the minute unless you wanna pay extra.

Why not pack everything in a trunk and send it unaccompanied? that's what I did when I moved here and was a lot cheaper.

I've always managed to get up to 32kg on any airline I've flown (32kg is the legal limit per item) - though this could just be luck.

Then a load of heavy things in hand luggage ;)

KLM are good, you can pay $50 extra and they will let you have another suitcase up to 20kg.

I think emirates allowances must depend on where you are departing from, Wife went from BKK to UK and had 40kg allowance on economy class, whilst I got a 30kg allowance for travelling on same flight and same class but from UK to BKK,,

Jet airways give you 50kgs and Kingfisher 32kgs.

I can confirm that a recent email from Kingfisher, in response to my enquiry because their web-site suggested either 20 kgs (BKK-India) or 46 kgs (LHR-India, that they say it should be 32 kgs in both directions, BKK-LHR and LHR-BKK. Has anyone actually seen this in actually travelling with them ?
