Blessings And Confessions

Featured Replies

Hi, can anyone please help me here? My fiancee has told me she is planning to go to a temple in the next few weeks for a Blessing Ceremony and for Confession. Apparently she has to wear all white on the day and cannot eat anything that day.

I don't understand what she is doing and was wondering if anyone knew of this ceremony so that I could check it out on the inter-net and understand it more.

She said this is a good thing to do but I didn't really understand what she is planning to do and what's it's for.

Any help would be much appreciated.

its basically to wash away all the bad things she has done in the year and to ask budda for a successfull year....

Any idea what this is called, either in Thai or English?

It's called เข้าพรรษา khow pun saa. Buddha Lent day. 27th July

On the 26th all the monks are supposed to return to their wats and stay for three months.

The non monks go dressed in white every 15 days for blessings etc.

We are all sinners, so it is good once a while we go to temple/church for blessing and confession. :P

Thanks to everyone who posted a reply, my fiancee is going to the Wat with her sister this week-end, will stay for the day and night, bring some food and clean the temple for the monks. Apparently she cannot eat any meat for the week before she goes to the Wat, thanks again to everyone.
