Spouse O Visa

Featured Replies

Hi,

I used the search engine but couldn't find even though i know it's somewhere in there. Can someone please be so kind as to tell me what documents are required for an extension of a spouse O visa, or give me a link. thanks in advance.

You are asking about "Thai wife" I suspect - as it is not the same for a foreign wife of a Thai and will request in Bangkok and will be first extension of stay?

Yes, I am married to a thai lady and already have a spouse o visa. I know the requirements tend to change every other year and wanted to know what the latest rules are for extending for another year.

As far as i know, it's the marriage cert, tm 87, passport photo's of myself, photo's of family in residence, child's birth cert, bankbook with three months of 400,000 minimum. Have i missed anything? thanks lopbri, i dont know if you remember me asking about this and other stuff before but you have helped out in the past.

You will need a letter from your bank confirming the saldo, the household registration and last but not least the misses herself.

It should be just about the same each year. The form will be TM.7 with a 4x6cm photo taken within six months attached (although they will also take a new photo and index finger prints electronically at Bangkok). You will need copies of marriage certificate and ledger entry documents (this is new so if not in your file and you do not have a copy visit a district office to obtain). Copies of bank book and letter from bank of account balance and perhaps an entry on that day (in Bangkok most banks have office on ground floor that can be used). Copies of passport data and visa/extensions/entries/departure card. Not sure if they will require family photos if have in file but best to have some (you can print on A4 yourself). Wife home register and ID card are normally required.

Went in to chaeng wattana yesterday with all the documents i thought i needed. Well, of course i missed something. Apparently there is a new requirement which is a document from your landlord stating you are renting your home if you don't already own one. I guess if you own it you would have to show documents proving that. Oh yes, and a map to your home but that was easily done in 2mins.

I'm not sure what the ledger document lopburi was commenting on. Can you elaborate?

Anyways all seems in order and hopefully i pick it up in a month.

On the 90 days reporting,.. can you do it by mail or do you have to report in person?

thanks.

The ledger document is a copy of the entry into the marriage register, next to the marriage certificate itself. Most immigration offices now insist you also show this document, as extra proof of marriage.

oh yes, we needed that last year and have copies from then. thanks.

I have not been asked for this in the last few years in Bangkok is it now a Bangkok requirement?

If not in your file believe you will be asked for it in the Thai wife extension of stay process now. It appears to apply to all offices. Its purpose is to confirm the validity of the marriage certificate so if officer is sure perhaps it will not be asked. My understanding is that all receive marriages are in a data base that allows a copy to be made from any District Office so not hard to obtain in that case.
