I lost (had stolen?) my Passport in March and eventually got a new one.

It was almost new so I still had my previous one with Visa details and I took both to Jomtien and had them transferred into my new one - again.

I expected they would want some information about when I last entered the Kingdom, my stamped Departure Card having also gone of course.

They didn't want to know and put a new blank one in it.

Being curious, I asked the farang guy there how they would know when I came in the next time I leave. He said they will check on the database.

Oh, OK, fair enough said I and made to leave.

By the way, said he, you can only leave via BKK airport, because none of the land crossings have accesss to the database. Actually, said he, we don't have access to it here either.

Apart from being a nuisance, because I was planning a land trip into Cambodia next, I thought this seemed odd.

Does anyone have experience of this and would I, in reality, be able to leave by a land border.

Will either they or BKK ask for evidence of my last entry?

Hi

2 years ago i lost my departure card and called up the airport I was told

to go to into Bangkok , which i did the lady at the desk was not very happy with me but after a few mins

checking the date I arrived she looked up my arrival card ,then on a new departure card she crossed out the number on the bottom

and wrote the number from my arrivel card, then stapled it into my passport with 3 staples ,and said ok now good bye

hope it helps abit

Colino

Oh I think they will do the same at the airport but it will cause a delay so leave extra time to get it done

If I may add a bit of advice to all foreigners...

After arrival in Thailand, make a copy of your passport, visa pages, and arrival card. Keep in a separate safe location (other than your wallet or purse) in case instances such as above arise. Then you'll have all pertinent information at your fingertips.

Cheers.

Well said and if you're really smart you'll scan it all into your computer, along with driving licences and everything else and then email it all to yourself so that you could retrieve it from anywhere in the world.

That's exactly what I do, and I also have a small laminated card that I carry in my mony belt or neck pouch, with emergency contact details back home, credit card 'phone numbers in case of loss, and any pertinent information.

I also have A4 copies of that inforationin each piece of baggage back at the hotel. Never neded it, but it's there if I ever do.

they make a wallet size, laminated copy of your visa and passport at the small copy shop outside the Jomtien immigration office. Like 40B or so...

I also scan these and email them to myself. Along with my scuba diving cert, marriage cert, drivers license, etc. I have had to use them on several occasions...
