Non-Immigrant Class F Visa In Vientiane

Featured Replies

This topic is bit different from others as most are talking about tourist visa and Non-Immigrant Class B/O.

I am currently working in Thailand, and I possess a valid work permit and Non-Immigrant Class B visa.

Now, the problem is I will leave my current employer to work for a non-governmental organization.

My future employer says that they will provide documents for Class F visa, but I need to go outside of the country to apply for it.

My questions are:

1. Can I just not apply here in Bangkok Immigration Office to change my current Class B into Class F visa (of course with the document support from the future employer)?

2. Does the Thai Embassy in Vientiane give Class F visa?...I just knew they issue lots of B's and O's.

Hope these questions are clear and hope somebody could help give some answer to my questions.

Thanks guys.

As far as I know a Non Imm F Visa is for diplomats or working for the Thai Government.

Give Vientienne a ring and ask about the requirements.

ROYAL THAI EMBASSY VIENTIANE, LAO PDR.

Kaysone Phomvihane Avenue, Xaysettha, Vientiane Capital

Tel (856 21) 214581 – 2 Fax (856 21) 214580 Telephone (02) 354-6196 - 97 Fax (02) 354-6194

Once you do in fact work out the procedure for the 'F' Visa you may end up getting a new one every year... The process for Extension in Police Order 777/2551 at 2.27 is onerous for a 'more than 90 days' or one year extension... the 90 day extension seems difficult enough.

Or contact the consular section which is located at No.15 Ban Ponesinuan, Bourichane Road, Vientiane Capital (near Lao-Singapore Business College). Telephone +856-21-453916, +856-21-415337 and Fax +856-21-415336

On 1 I'm not sure, you will have to ask immirgation. But normally to have the privaliges of a non-F visa (diplomatic immunity) you need to enter the country on a non-F visa.

2. The consulate should issue it with the right documents, but might be pensing approval of the Embassy itself or even the Foreign ministry. Better check how long it will take them to issue.

They just don't issue those visa's a lot and we don't se many questions and answers about these visas.

Re the OPs query: Why doesn't the NGO in question just tell him where all their other Non-IMM 'F' Visa holders received their visas or is he the first?

4. DIPLOMATIC / OFFICIAL VISA - Upon official request, Thai Embassies and Consulates-General may grant visas to diplomatic or official passport-holders who wish to assume duties at a foreign Diplomatic Mission or Consulate or International Organization in the Kingdom and to their family members. - Supporting documents are Note Verbal and/or documents issued by the foreign government or international organization, certifying the identity of the person concerned and his/her purposes while residing in the Kingdom.

i.e. you may be required to hold a diplomatic/official passport from your home country before applying for Thailand 'F' Visa.
