first and foremost, there is no such thing a "work visa" in Thailand, the document concerned is a work permit, dependent on your circumstances you can get a work permit on an Non-imm "O" visa or more usually a non-imm B visa. ( a non-imm B visa -business visa, does not allow you to work)

To get a work permit one needs a job offer, or starting their own business . can you change status in country - generally yes

Seems like a tourist visa is your only chance, unless you go studying again.

On a tourist visa you can look for work, and once you found it apply for a work permit. Next you would then have to go abroad and apply for a non-B visa.

But consider first if you will be able to find a job. You must have a skill that will be in demand and no Thai national can do.
go abroad? like visa run , go to Laos, Cambodia? how much will that cost approximately?

what if i go to a language school, get a student visa, will that easy to apply for a work permit?

The visa run depends on where you go, the visa itself will cost around 5,000 baht.

You cannot get a work permit on an ED-visa, so with an ED visa you would still need to go to a neighboring country for a non-B visa, just as with a tourist visa.

i need to know the lowest cost for go abroad for a non-b visa ...

how much for go to Laos? Malaysia? Cambodia?

if too high, i may try to get a non-b in China....

That depends on where you stay in Thailand, how you travel and where you will stay while waiting for the visa.

You can check some threads here: http://www.thaivisa....-in-the-region/

Edit:

I'm not sure about consulates in China, but normaly you will need paperwork from a company that offers you work before they will issue a non-B visa.

On what basis are you going to apply for a non-imm B ?, there are only two options as far as I am aware namely

1. On the basis of a job offer.....ie the company you will work for will supply all the paperwork

2. On the basis of looking at the possiblity of opening a buisness in Thailand and even in this case you need a Thai entity to supply you with a letter/sponsership to invite you to Thailand.

I would sugest you actually read what has been written, this is not a case of turning up at a Thai embassy somewhere and asking for a non-imm B and you may think it is

You are right - one way is to get a tourist visa and then apply for a job while you are in Thailand. However, I would suggest another way. It is perhaps a bit slower, but have a look at it. I do a lot of work internationally and some of our partners are Chinese companies. Perhaps you should consider using your knowledge of Thailand by getting a job at a Chinese based company with a presence in Thailand. There are a number of Chinese companies here and they are looking for hardworking and skilled nationals to work here.

Just my 5 baht thought of the day
