July 24, 201015 yr I was in Mae Sai yesterday, and normally you can pay 10 US$ or 500 Bt. at the Myanmar border. Wel, that's finished. Only Bath they told me from yesterday on. Something new to, if your not going to shop in Tachileik, no need to sit down and take a picture. They just stamp your passport, and of you go. So, I guess no proof you've been there and the money goes in their pockets!
July 24, 201015 yr no need to sit down and take a picture that must have changed recently, i was there wednesday and sit had my photo taken So, I guess no proof you've been there and the money goes in their pockets! isnt the stamp in yr passport proof enough that you have been there?
July 24, 201015 yr Its all about the amount of money. $10 USD is only 320 - 330 baht depending on the daily exchange rate.
July 24, 201015 yr Author no need to sit down and take a picture that must have changed recently, i was there wednesday and sit had my photo taken So, I guess no proof you've been there and the money goes in their pockets! isnt the stamp in yr passport proof enough that you have been there? It changed the day I was there friday 23th. No, the stamp in your passport is proof for the Thai immigration, but you pay to the Myanmar imm. ,so they just put it in the pocket! Fine with me, but 10$ is stil better than 500 Baht
July 28, 201015 yr That was temporary for the Buddhist holiday only. I was there on 26th and they could not take dollars but would again begin taking dollars from the 27th on they told me. We got our photos taken as well and went back to thailand..
July 28, 201015 yr That's interesting as I always arm myself with the prerequisite dollars beforehand. I keep the 500 Baht hidden just in case. Thanks for the info. The key thing is are they still selling the Bulgarian beer in the duty free and how Bulgarian is it?
