I have an idea for you ....

Get a glass of water, and set it down. watch it for 5 minutes (or videotape it, if you prefer)

If you see ripples, its the city. If not, you might want to see a neurologist (NOT a psychologist - a neurologist)

If there's somethin' strange in your neighborhood

Who ya gonna call (ghostbusters)

If it's somethin' weird an it won't look good

Who ya gonna call (ghostbusters)

I ain't afraid a no ghost

I ain't afraid a no ghost

If you're seein' things runnin' thru your head

Who can you call (ghostbusters)

An' invisible man sleepin' in your bed

Oh who ya gonna call (ghostbusters)

I ain't afraid a no ghost

I ain't afraid a no ghost

Who ya gonna call (ghostbusters)

If you're all alone pick up the phone

An call (ghostbusters)

I ain't afraid a no ghost

I hear it likes the girls

I ain't afraid a no ghost

Who you gonna call (ghostbusters)

Mm…if you've had a dose

Of a freaky ghost baby

You better call ghostbusters

Bustin' makes me feel good

I ain't afraid a no ghosts

Don't get caught alone oh no…ghostbuster

When he comes through your door

Unless you've just got some more

I think you better call ghostbusters

Ooh... who you gonna call (ghostbusters)

Who you gonna call (ghostbusters)

Ah, I think you better call (ghostbusters)

I can't hear you…(ghostbusters)

Who you gonna call (ghostbusters)

Louder ghostbusters

Who you gonna call (ghostbusters)

Who you can call ghost....

Could it be the drink ?

It could be, Doc. The truth is, it could be.

This is an option that can not be outrightly disregarded from the offset.

However upon further analysis there have been... (snip)

edit: Poster cut off for rambling in a drunken manner

Are you in a highrise near the river? If so don't worry about it the building is just settling into the mud. :o Any cracks on the walls? Is the carpark always wet?

Termites?

Back on topic.

Have you lived in a hi-rise before, they do move quite a lot.

When I lived in Seoul (on the 28th floor) our building shook quite often. We had one real earthquake (actually a very small tremor).

After a lot of investigating (it was in 1995, just after the department store and Songsu bridge disasters) the culprit was determined to be .... the lift machinery.

AFIK the tower is still there, and, I assume, still shaking.

Don't worry about it, you'll get used to it.

Maybe one of those War of the Worlds machines is underneath ?

I think Bangkok sits on some pretty strange soil; often when I am waiting at a bus stop you can feel the ground shake when a big truck goes by and some of the foot bridges seem to get pretty shaky at times too (and I dont drink!).

Falling down drunk isn't a problem. Holding on to the floor for safety after one falls is a bit more of a worry :D

Yes Doc, this is a serious affliction that can jump out and grab you at the worst of times.Reminds me of the time when I fell off the floor last week, but thats another story.... :o

Relax, actually I think that shaking is quite common here in BKK. Live in a four story townhouse and we have got that shaking too. The ground is kind of soft because obviously there is something like a klong (canal) underneath. The next major road is about 300 - 400m away but you feel the shaking when in bed (no need for dirty thoughts and indecent comments :o ) or lying on the floor on our Isaan mat watching TV when heavy load trucks pass by.

A few months ago Roger Crutchley doing the Postscipt in the Bangkok Post reported about a similar phenomen and actually also thought it was an earthquake but actually there was just some construction work nearby.

As long as there are no cracks showing in the walls and/or the ceiling light is coming down just take it easy and feel the rhythm. One, two, clap your hands, shake...

If things get more severe just panic and dive under the table. Further action in accordance to the further development of things.

Cheers,

Richard :D
