Dear TV posters....

A friend of mine was out of the UK for 15 years, living in Japan for 10 years and Thailand for 5 years.

On his return to the UK he decided to apply for jobs. Prospective employers in the UK stated that he should have obtained a certificate/written confirmation from the Thai police to say that he has never been in prison or convicted of a crime in Thailand. This was a surprise to him and since he never obtained this kind of writen confirmation from the Thai police he has found it a bit more difficult than normal finding a job in the UK.

Soon, i plan to return to the Uk after being in Thailand for nearly 10 years.

My question to all TV posters is this: -

Have you heard of such written confirmation being required? If so, where exectly does one go to obtain such written confirmation, what is the cost and how long does it take to get it?

Hope you can help....

Thanks

Unless you are considering a job that involves working with children, or a sensitive area of government, a criminal record check is not normally required by UK employers.

I don't know how to obtain one from the Thai authorities, sorry.

Do some research on TV, there are quite a few threads giving address..... main copshop in BKK takes 7days and is free, need copy of your existing or expired WP/passport and they take finger prints

Sorry for jumping in on your thread Soutpeel. 7by7 if I should have started a new thread say so and I'll do it but it seems we both want exactly the same information so it seems pointless having two similar threads running at the same time.

We do intend working with children and I've had no problem getting a CRB check in the UK for myself but, as my wife has only been in the UK for a year, we're having problems/delays with the UK police clearing her.

We're in Thailand for the next five weeks so if anybody can point us in the right direction as to how to get my wife police checked in Thailand while we're here I'd be very grateful.

Thanks for the feedback.. I could well end up working with children and it is likely that i could end up working on Government installations too. I think it is best to get clearance from the Thai Police.

Which is the main cop shop in BKK?

While i am there it would be best to get clearance for my wife too....but she is not Thai but has been working in thailand for 8 years.

Cheers

No problem, Sumrit. It's the same topic, and as you say better to have everything all in one topic rather tan two identical topics running.

Sorry I can't be of help as to where to obtain a certificate in Thailand. As Soutpeel says, this has come up before so a forum search should come up with the answer.

Done a search and found this post. The link provided in there by gburns57au seems to provide the information you require.
