Bank Deposit Requirement For Non-Imm O Marriage

Featured Replies

Hi all

my non immigrant 'o' marriage visa expires in October, a month earlier than I had thought.

I understood that a minimum balance of 400,000 THB had to be deposited in a thai bank for a period of 3 months (2 months for 1st apps) prior to application. I haven't seen any changes to this policy, but recent posts would suggest 2 months also applies to renewals now.

I pray this is the case, but can someone kindly confirm please.

The rule is 2 months, but some require 3 months after the first application. You don't have to worry, as you can always can get a 60 day extension and extend fro 1 year after that.

Many thanks for that. These ambiguous, discretionary rules are wonderful! No idea how Phuket apply this I suppose? Can I get the 60 day extension from them or is it a visa run?

Phuket should issue the 60 day extension if they do not accept the 2 month bank balance.

It is an extension from immigration, so no border run. After the 60 day extension you can get a 1 year extension. Not sure how Phuket handles the seasoning requirement, but as said, you won't have to leave the country to get a new visa.

Many thanks for your helpful advice. If I run into any problems, I will report back for the benefit of others in a similar predicament.
