Single Entry O Visa

Featured Replies

im after answers to a couple of qeustion,s. im married to a thai and also own house in kk wifes name on chanote. (1) im wanting to open a bank occount in thailand in my own name when i return. i understand that ill need a O visa and i was only going to obtain a single entry for the that purpose of going to kk img and get a residancy letter

so i can go to the bank and open an account. reading some posts from members on forums they say that kk img office will not give residancy cert out only after you have reported to 90day extention is this correct .

(2) ive also been reading that a yellow book for the expat my be a better opion. seen as my wife has chanote and blue book. would i be able to abtain a yellow book on a single entry O visa .

any feedback be helpful.

Immigration is not likely to issue for someone not on extensions of stay. You should obtain from your Embassy. Some banks may not even require a letter at all.

As for yellow book, which most offices don't know much about at best, suspect being here for a visit and no record of living there would be a problem.

thanks for the reply. the way ive read it .is you must be on a multi entry visa O and have obtained a 90 day reporting first before the img office will grant a residancy permit .

is this correct.

and the yellow book you must have a residancy permit and the other required doc,s before you apply. regards paul.

A residency permit is something else, you want a letter from immigration confirming your residency. As said, immigration is unlikely to provide unless you are on an extension of stay and do 90 day reports. However, a lot of banks will not require a letter of residency.

Try to apply at some other banks, like Kasikorn, and take your wife or another Thai person with you to vouch for you.

You do not do 90 day reports on a multi entry non immigrant O visa as you can never stay longer than 90 days without leaving. Only if you extend your stay would you need to worry about 90 day address reports.
