Dtac Postpaid

I read the Dtac Webpage and it tells you need a Passport and a credit card, so I went to the shop, where the first wanted the work permit.

Not having one seemed no problem.

But they did not accept my credit cards, as only Thai credit cards are accepted, no foreign one.

They did not accept my Kasikorn card as it is just a debit card (OK I understand that).

Are they correct with "no foreign credit card"? That would be strange, or?

Not sure about the current situation but about 1 year ago my Foreign CC was accepted. The whole application was a piece of cake.

I had no WP (yet) that time, only non-B visa, so not possible to get a Thai CC anyway.

Try another Dtc shop, one of the bigger ones. I went last year to the one in Central World but that shop is closed temporary.

Some of the staff from Dtac CW are now working in Siam Paragon.

Can't see how prepaid is 'easier'. having to get top ups. I got Post pay simply by going to my local shopping mall booth and asking. They made a call and i got it. No work permit at that time but i had been with Dtac on prepay for 2 years and had 2 years bank book and a 'non B' visa. I find it a lot easier just pay the bill at a Dtac shop before the 15th of every month (with a 4500b limit) but my bill is usually about 1200b

Do not really understand it, 3BB would not accept my foreign credit card for payment yet UBC ( as it was then ) had no problem accepting it and have been using it for payment for some time without any problems. There appears to be no delay in payment so I have no idea as to what the problem is.

For me much easier and safer than post paid. I have been overcharged three times recently, once by AIS and twice by Dtac. Dtac accepted there was a problem somewhere and credited the 2nd overcharge. That was about six months ago and no further overcharge has been made which would seem to have been a Computer error which has now been corrected.

No Passport or Work Permit required and I top up at a 7/11 Shop no more than one minute from where I live.

I have had Credit Accounts for about 15 years but pre-paid is virtually hassle free.

Dtac pre-paid at Baht 1.05 per minute is also the best deal I could find for calls within Thailand.

DTAC's terms simply say that a credit card is needed. They do not say it has to be a Thai credit card. I believe you were misinformed by this DTAC shop. This is just normal for Thailand, I'm afraid. I had a very easy time at DTAC in Tesco Lotus on Rama 4 Road, Bangkok. The shop is on the second floor.

Under the circumstances I would call DTAC's help line and tell them what happened. Their English is very good.

end of the story:

I sent an email to DTAC at 5.30 PM yesterday

I got an answer at 6.45 PM in which she told that DTAC called that place. They were wrong and deeply apologize and ask me if I can go there again.

Today I went there again.

First "you need to have a work permit"

My answer: "I don't need to have a work permit"

gave them my credit card and passport, filed out name and address.

Max. 5 minutes

Having the sim now....everything OK.

I was really impressed by the email. Very quick, telling very straight that they were wrong and that they explained it to the branch.

As well the email was signed with a name.

Very perfect support!
