Chevron Chief affirms to continue energy investment in Thailand

BANGKOK (NNT) -- Mr James R. Blackwell, Chief of Chevron Asia Pacific Exploration and Production affirms the company’s support in energy investment in Thailand and compliments Thai policy in related strategies.

Mr. Blackwell paid a visit to Thai Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva at the Government House on Monday morning and stated that the company investment in Thailand in energy business was successful with good support from the Thai Government. The company has planned to expand its energy business in the country continuously, despite the recent political unrest as the company did not get any impact from such a problem.

He also complimented the government’s energy policy and related measures of power imports including the reconciliation plan of the Prime Minister as it was an important factor to strengthen stability in investment session.

Prime Minister Abhisit cited that the energy policy was the key implementation of the Government and Thailand was moving forward the use of alternative energy with the hope to deal with the long-term energy shortage. Nuclear power plant is another option if required as well. He confirmed the growth of Thai economic would continue without a glitch, with this year GDP expected at 6% and that would result in bright and stabilized investment sector of the country.
