Thai Marriage

Featured Replies

i am new here and have been searching the site about visas for living in thailand when i get married next year

I thought i would have to get a marriage visa but it seems that a non immigrant visa is ok

i am from australia, 52 years old

what have other people done about a visa and what are the steps to getting a suitable visa.

thanks

anthony

No visa allows living in Thailand - for marriage the visa allows a 90 day stay and is a non immigrant O visa. If you want to stay longer you need to extend your stay from Immigration and that requires 400k in Thai bank account 2 months or proof of 40k income for marriage one year extension of stay (and the paperwork required). A method with less paperwork for those over age 50 is retirement extension of stay with 800k in Thai bank or 65k per month income or combination to meet 800k per year.

A Multi Entry Non Imm O Visa will give you up to up to 15 months but needs a border run every 90 days.

A single will give you 9 days.

A 12 month extension from Immigration based on having a Thai Wife will give 12 months and you do not have to leave.

A 12 month extension from Immigration based on Retirement will give 12 months and you do not have to leave.
