Long Term Overstay - Leave From Any Airport?

Featured Replies

I overstayed my visa by 3 years. I understand I'll pay 20,000b on exit, and hope there is nothing more to it - like most report.

I've read all the threads here about overstays, but still I'm not clear on something that I hope others can clarify.

When I leave Thailand for Phnom Phen, Kuala Lumpur, or Singapore, or where ever I decide to go -

Must I leave from the Bangkok Airport, or, can I leave from any smaller airport that has international flights???

Ubon Ratchathani? Phuket? Krabi? Surat Thani? Etc...

I've seen that some choose to leave by land exits - Nong Khai, on train to Malaysia ending up at Butterworth - and been OK.

Are all smaller airports OK then?

Thanks for any help.

I don't see that it makes any difference, as you will have to go through immigration which ever you choose! :whistling:

Any border will be OK, although at Bangkok it will be more of a routine if people have an overstay and you can be assured to get on the plane in time.

Don't know what the procedures will be at other airports, if they might question you longer there.

I have no idea about overstays, but I would be interested to know how it all goes for you. Maybe you can report back once you have left.
