We had little luck in Chiang Rai and ended up sourcing most of our stuff in Chiang Mai. There are a few places here, on both sides of the highway to Makro. They are right on the highway so easy to spot.

Yeah we have bought from there also it's called (ปีนังเฟอร์นิเจอร์),English it's called (Pea-nang) so the missus says, have some good stuff, they will also haggle, the one im refering to is the last furniture shop on the left opposite Makro, big sign cant miss it.

good luck.

Edited for wrong spelling.

Right - the one just opposite Makro, on the side going north. best deals in town.

the one just a bit south on the other side is good to check -

I wanted drawers with locks (dumb idea I found, but I've a two year old)

and only found them (on decent drawers) there.

When a lock promptly came out, the put in a new one free...

If you want utilitarian furniture (sofa 2000bht, wardrobe 1000bht, bed, table and 4 chairs 1200bht) the factory outlets near Lampun is the place to go.

Drive out of CM, past the Lampun turnoff, past the temple on the hill, turn left at petrol station.

Stuff more arty, try Ban Tuwai a couple of kms from Hang Dong.

Drive out of CM, past airport, into Hang Dong, turn left at traffic lights, drive 2km then turn right at sign.

Both areas hugely cheaper than ChiangMai

I'm in Doi Saket (between CR and CM), if you have a pickup that can carry a bit of furniture for me (chair), I'll guide you.

Just an update gang.

Thanks for the tips. Picked up a few things

at Pea-nang. Reasonable quality at decent

prices I thought.

Whilst in the back doing doing the paper-work,

the girl asked me if I wanted a water. When I

replied "no thanks", she offered me a beer.

Ya gotta love this place :)

Regards

Will

Thanks mate.

And thanks again for putting the name in Thai so the wife

could read it, as I have no idea.
