It is an absolute work of art, the classic of classics. Innervisions might have the slight edge over Songs in the Key of Life for me, but they're both amazing albums and the latter album manages to remarkably sustain itself over a double-album length, plus an EP. chonabot
Had to cry today - Traffic Traffic or Blind Faith? Was (Not Was) - Born to Laugh at Tornadoes Traffic , it's a bootleg version released after Winwood first penned the song [ Before Blind faith formed..... ].... Nah you got me - Blind Faith - the album with the dodgy topless cover..................... It’s already written that today will be one to remember The feeling’s the same as being outside of the law Had to cry today Well, I saw your sign and I missed you there I’m taking the chance to see the wind in your eyes while I listen You say you can’t reach me but you want every word to be free Had to cry today Well, I saw your sign and I missed you there And I missed you there Had to cry today ... tutsiwarrior
Doh! I thought it was rule #1: You don't talk about redrus rule #2: You don't tark about redrus But I could be wrong Listening to: Stevie Ray, Eric, Buddy Guy, and Jimmy Vaughn.. Sweet Home Chicago, live 1980 I saw Buddy and Junior Wells at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, 1968 as an opening act for Janis...they almost stole the show. Later they appeared at a blues club in SF, a shadow of their former selves in early 80's...stumbled drunk onto the stage after 2 hours of the crowd waiting, did some tootlin' about then stumbled off 30 mins after... reminds me ob the time I saw Big Mama Thornton at the Ash Grove in LA early 70s...she could hardly stand up she was so drunk but she managed to toss off a couple of licks in her inimitable style...she died soon after, spending her last days in a park in Watts sharing bottles of white port... when you play de blues you gots to know about de pain ob libben... Been having a bit if a B.guy day today, all his collaborations with others, SRV.. eric... from the 70's and eighties... and the srv tribute concert....especially when eric and BGuy get up together.. they are always, from the early days to latter days, sparring and having fun, it comes out in their guitars so cleearly.. great stuff

kayo
Anybody got more Buddy Guy Stories? That guy, to me, is one of the greatest. Combines so much goodness from so many, and makes it his own. Bloody marvellous man. Listening to: Lil Johnson, (selected lyrics reprinted here: ) If you don't like my sweet potato, what made you dig so deep? If you don't like my sweet potato, what made you dig so deep? In my potato field three, four times a week Whooping, I've been whooping, whooping all night long Whooping, I've been whooping, whooping all night long Whooping, I've been whooping, ever since my man been gone (spoken: Oh, swing that thing, Mr. Avery! You play that thing so good! Ooh, them blues sure sound good this morning Don't kill that half-pint!) My dog jumped a rabbit, the rabbit fell down on his knees My dog jumped a rabbit, the rabbit fell down on his knees He looked up at the dog and said, "Won't you have mercy on me, please" Just as sure as you hear me sing this song Just as sure as you hear me sing this song You'll never miss your jelly till your jelly roll is gone Now listening to Buddy Guy & SRV with I believe Ry Cooder. It's a blues track I can't place.. Jimi did this track too though... I think... It's like a mix of Red House and Once I had a woman, same same but very different... sort of... I've got it entitled only as "Blues Jam", a 25 minute jam from a concert of Buddy Guy's where he invites up "My best friend.. The best guitarist, C'mon up here Stevie..." Any idea's...? chonabot
Messing with the kid' by Buddy and Junior Wells.. Wasn't that by Rory Gallaghar? No, he played a great version of it , but many of Rory's tracks were old RnB standards written by US Bluesmen.
