Some folks not, that the way of the world. BTW, last month I spent three days with a Lao refugee family who'd gone to the U.S. in 1976 with their four young boys and three suitcases, and no $$$. During some conversation we kind of wondered how they might have fared if there'd been no war in Laos, or if the LGMs hadn't taken over. As it is, one son is an orthopedic surgeon, one a lawyer, one a computer guru, and the last "boy," who was two when they hit the U.S., is a successful dentist. And, yes, other families have done well, too, in different ways, and many have done less well. Mac

October 27, 201015 yr As an Englishman, l owe my existence to the sacrifices of many but for sure if the US Marines were not there for me/us in the 40's l would not exist. I salute you. Well said transam. They have my deepest respect and admiration. Seems some on here have short memories and should take a trip to the war cemetries in France. I will add i too am English, not American.

I guess you are not a " Chinaman" than or you had picked up some other comment. And don't forget this is an international forum, we may have members here from countries where the navy dropped some bombs and killed some people, even in Europe, not that very long time ago. I know they were defending the freedom so that i can write comments like the one above , right? But if i look at the recent wikileaks about the war in Iraq i don't know if there is much to celebrate.
October 27, 201015 yr Don't bother Sergei, i'm not going down that route. You'll have to start a row in an empty room as it were. Something you are well capable of i'm sure. Have fun.
October 27, 201015 yr Lets cease the history debate, this isn't the place for it. Some people ignored my request and lost their posting rights.
October 27, 201015 yr I'm asking nicely that everyone respect the OP's inquiry and limit this thread to the topic at hand. Further arguments over history will be deleted, and participants suspended.

October 27, 201015 yr Yes happy birthday!, they do have have their place but as an ex desert rat I prefer Storming Norman's assessment of the USMC.
October 27, 201015 yr Happy Birthday, I have been fortunate to know allot of good Marines. And while I know they are out there somewhere, I have yet to meet a really bad one.

But you would exist Hitler had no intention of slaughtering everyone.
October 28, 201015 yr To OP hope you find the birthday ball and you all have a good time. To all our brave British and US forces hope you all make it home safe. Wear you poppy with pride.... Jam1e Edited October 28, 201015 yr by JAM1E
