Cash From Thai To Uk

Featured Replies

Hi All

I have some money in a Thai bank account (mother in laws) ands I want it sent to my account in the UK.

I dont want to use Western Union as it is too expensive and I am not desperate to have it today or tomorrow.

Looking at the Bangkok Bank website you can do a SWIFT transfer. Has anyone used a service like this and if so what are the approximate fees and hwo long does the transfer take? Lastly, how do you know what rate you are send the cash at? ie. if the bank are selling GBP tomorrow when the transfer is made at 48THB do I receive this rate?

I am sure this has been discussed before so apologoes in advance.

Thanks for reading.

Kind regards

Your Mother in Law's ??

Well, I didn't actually that many questions did i?

If I was in Thaland i would of course walk into a bank and ask them but seeing as I am in London was the purpose to ask the question to anyone who has maybe done this in the past.

Why when a normal question is asked do idiots provide sarcastic answers???

Well, I am sure there are many many family members, including mother in laws in Thalnad that can be trusted. Mine certainly is one of them. I take it yours isn't.

As to your question of amount I don't feel any relevance to this question so I'll not asnwer it.

Thyanks for your reply. If you have any experience with my question i would be glad to hear from you again.

Kind regards.

Thanks Oldgent, you have reassured me that now I have hit 40 yo I am not turning into some negative pratt!

Take care

The fee for this is around 1500 Baht. Choose to send the money as sterling that is have it changed before its sent by the Thai bank as you'll get a better exchange than a thieving English bank. Same goes for fees have those all paid for in Thailand before the money is sent. Cheaper all round.

Good luck as I've never tried to deal with my Thai bank from thousands of miles away....hard enough at times in the local branch.

Fantastic. Exactlky what I needed to know. Thank you. Change into sterling in Thai. i thought as much but was not 1005 sure if you needed to ask for this to be done.

I'll ask the mother in law to go to the bank ASAP.
