Actor Zach Galifianakis smokes marijuana on TV in support of Prop 19

2010-11-02 02:06:41 GMT+7 (ICT)

LOS ANGELES (BNO NEWS) -- Actor and comedian Zach Galifianakis, in support of California's Prop 19, decided to smoke a marijuana cigarette on HBO's Real Time with Bill Maher on Friday night.

"It's a tricky thing politically to jump on that bandwagon 'cause I think that maybe people see it as taboo still," Galifianakis said. He immediately after took out the cigarette, lit it up, and inhaled.

Maher and company seemed amused, and Galifianakis handed the cigarette to a smiling Margaret Hoover, who smelled it and said, "It's the real thing."

As the other guests continued to discuss the Prop 19, Galifianakis suddenly yelled out, "Oh my God, look at those dragons!"

"That's my point. I think that's what people think of it," he added, referring to the social perspective of marijuana as a hallucinogen.

California Proposition 19 will be on the November 2 California statewide ballot, which proposes the legalization of various marijuana-related activities, but includes local governments to regulate them with permits, fees, taxes, and penalties.
