Colabamumbai Posted November 5, 2010 Posted November 5, 2010 For those of you who have been following previous posts. Canadian Living in Thailand for ten months on a one year mutiply entry ED. visa, good till January 2011. Was offered employment, with large reputable company, 15 full time Thai employees. So now I apply for a work permit. Documents needed, and the same documents to go to the Thai Embassy in Laos to apply for a Non B visa, with work permit. 1. Copy of all pages of passport. 2. Educational Certificate, degrees, diplomas, accreditations 3. Form of Employment Certification (one page fill in the blanks the owner says he wishes to hire you, Job?, description, Company owned by Thais' or foreigners, the amount of business the company has, assets and income for the past year 2552, cash deposits, profit loss, and taxes paid. Number of foreign employees etc. 4.Employment contract, can be drawn up according to both parties wishes. (my boss did not know how many sick days to offer per year) he did not know what his employees received now. He called some friends who have businesses and they told him offer up to 30 days sick leave per year, after three days sick, need doctor letter. Boss would not agree to me putting in the contract that "I am entitled to 8 or 10 days off per year, consecutivley, for a vacation, or holiday without pay, starting after one year employment". He was afraid that I would take 30 days sick leave and then 10 days more for holiday. So we made a verbal agreement that I I wanted the 8 to 10 days he would grant them. This delayed things even longer. 5. Copy of Comapanys Certified Document and Business Registration. 6. Copy of company Certified Document. 7. Copy of Shareholders List, or statement showing none. 8. Copy of Memorandum of Articles of Company. 9. Copy of Juristic Person Income Tax for recent and past year. 10. Copy of Value Added Tax. 11. Copy of Financial Statement of the recent year. 12. The employees list in the company. (took a week to get staff thought I wanted their I.D. card numbers) They did not understand I needed their names and Tax Numbers. 13. Receipt for Work Permit and or Work Permit. 14. All the things I forgot to mention above..................... So I am armed with all of this information and I go to Nong Khai Last Tuesday morning by train from Korat. The 01:30 a.m. departure was delayed as usual as the train originating in Bangkok was 2 hours late. While waiting another train pulled in to the station missing a brake shoe, it was noticed and repaired by crewmen. Get to Nong Khai at 10:a.m Tuk tuk to bridge, shared Bhat 30. Lots of people at the border, about an hour to exit Thailand and enter Laos. Its 11:a.m now. Share a Taxi to the Thai Embassy bhat 100 per person. Arrive at 11:30 with the inch thick documents, to be told that I did not have a letter of invitation from my boss, stating Length of time, salary, Job, etc. Although all that information is in the contract. So on the phone to the office in Korat , I emailed them a letter to print, scan and email me in Vientiane. I print out the letter and return to the embassy the following day. They asked me why didn't I have the original copy of the letter of invitation? and I told them I was just following the instructions that they gave me the previous day, to" get the company to Fax or email me the letter." How could I possibly have the original? They accepted all of the paperwork and as you know the Thai Embassy in Vientiane will only give a 90 day Non B visa, although the W.P. could be for a year or five. So I get a 90 day one entry (already used), to come back into Thailand. which I should be able to get extended here at immigration if I go to them about 60 days into the visa. Thanks to all the help from more experienced posters in helping me get it together.
