Ok so I've been in Thailand for over a decade. I know that often earth shattering sounds mean celebration more often than war, but tonight- what is going on? For the last hour since 7pm I have heard what sounds like- firearms, bombs, sirens, etc... Is this a holiday celebration that I was unaware of - or is something really going on.

Guy Fawkes night is November 5th in the UK.

Many Brits will be observing the tradition of letting off fireworks, and we know for sure that Thais LOVE fireworks so its a great excuse for them to join in the fun :D

one of the many excuses to get drunk and set off noise making fire works.......i would attribute it to pre loy katrong. Firework sales for loy katrong have already started a month before as my kids are already bring them home withtheir 'snack money' and it willbe continuous......building up th\o the frenzy of new years and chineese new years.

Funny how in LOS and most countries it is the poorest people that burn the most money on fireworks [and whiskey].
