Vat - Where To Complain Officially About Wrongly Taxed

Featured Replies

AirAsia calculated VAT on the airport tax component of my ticket.

I believe this to be wrong as it would be a tax on another tax and not the basis of VAT at all ; which is a tax on goods and services.

I would like to officially complain about this to the relevant authorities.

Can anyone give me the name of the department, address and fax/ email of the relevant authorities please?

Thank you.

Air Asia is a Malaysian headquartered company. What company exactly did you contract with, and where are they based? Thai AirAsia, for example, may just be a brand name.

Clearly you are not based in Thailand or you would know not to waste your time, things here are not the same as in the West, if you find the right place to complain too you would be very lucky to even get a response let alone anykind of satisfaction. Dont waste your time or effort, forget it and move on........lifes too short.:jap:

@Thaiphoon : It does not matter whether AirAsia or ThaiAirAsia is a Malaysian or Thai company.

"Are subjected to the 7% VAT rate all sales of goods or services rendered in Thailand " : reference http://www.doingbusinessthailand.com/thailand-taxes/thailand-taxes-introduction-to-thai-vat.html - it doesnt matter if the goods/services provider is Thai or not as long as those goods/service is rendered in Thailand.

@CharlieH : Indeed i am not resident in Thailand. Notwithstanding that no action may be taken, I still wish to officially file a complaint on this.

The VAT of 7% on the airport tax on ONE ticket is peanuts but multiply that by, say 1 million (?) tickets in a year and then it's a whole different ballgame.

I am not asking for help in filing or for support of the complaint but only for the correct department to complain to and its contact.

Does anyone have it please?

No sure but i gues "TAX DEPARTMENT", just to inform you they only answering letters in Thai language. If you very serious i suggest to consult with a lawyer related to Tax affairs.

PriceWaterhouseCoopers have a few very knowledgeable staff on this matter.

I wish you good luck and hope you have a lots off time because you going to need both of them.
