Hi gents,

Country of origin UK

Age (under retirement :P )

Basically, I've come to Thailand on a single entry tourist visa which has been extended the full 90 days. I wish to stay in the country longer and have heard/read I could go to Laos or Cambodia to get another Single Entry/Double Entry Visa. However, upon speaking to more people they say that this is not correct? That I would only be able to get a 14 day extension and only be able to do that once in each of the countries stated above.

I'm in a state of confusion, so if anyone could clear up this mess for me I would be very grateful!! Also, if anyone could suggest what paper work, how to get down to the border, what to expect at each border etc.

Many thanks,

EDIT:

I am assuming this is correct to obtain the visa and that the application form is on your website?:

As usual those people were talking about something they have no knowledge. The 15 days, not 14 is a "visa exempt" entry, nothing to do with a visa. By all means you can apply for a Tourist Visa and likely can apply and receive a double entry from the Consulate at Vientiane, Laos, they are free until March, 2011.

Thanks for the quick reply, Is there any kind of limit, or failure rate of obtaining the Tourist visa? I know a lot of people seem to have success, but there's always the exception :P. Also, do you need all your paper work done before you go into the embassy/leave Thailand?

At the top of this forum section, there is a pinned topic of latest reports of getting a visa in the region.

A lot of good information, that should answer most of your questions. Basically though, you don't need anything to exit Thailand except the departure card in your passport. To enter Laos, you will need a Laos Visa, can be obtained in Bangkok, or at the border, you apply for the visa in the morning hours, and pick up your passport the next afternoon. Recently they haven't been as generous to people who have several Tourist Visas, but one shouldn't be a problem. In addition to the documents you mentioned, they will want copies of your passport information, and they have their own application form.

You will get a double entry Tourist Visa from the Thai Consulate in Vienntienne free of charge.

You can get the application form when you get there. Don't forget the passport size photo.

Thanks very much for the help! Been a lot of stress recently with all the conflicting views and stories I've been hearing!

one other thing... If you are Thai do you still need a Laos visa? I was thinking about doing the journey together with my thai girlfriend, but obviously if it will cost us each 1,500 baht then that is too expensive!
