Buying Stuff Online From Us Merchants...

Back where I come from, there are service providers who will provide a US street address (basically their warehouse) that you can send your online purchase to. This is then shipped to my home country. That's how I can provide a US-address for US online merchants that do not ship outside the USA.

Is there a similar service in Thailand? How are the rates and delivery standards?

Ive had luck with companies who say they won't ship to thailand by calling them and explaining that I am a westerner living here and would like them to ship to thailand. Websites say they won't ship because thailand is a high fraud country, but if you call you should be able to arrange shipping and payment via credit card.

Gungadin (sadly no longer with us RIP) used Shipitto http://www.shipito.com/ regularly and with great success.

I read the OP's question "Is there a similar service in Thailand?" as asking if there is a service that will let him buy stuff in Thailand and ship overseas when the on line merchant will not ship over seas but will ship to a Thailand address?

I just have it shipped to my house in Texas. Had a separate guest house built next to one of the property walls and has a night deposit style mail slot (for replacement atm cards, and non perishables, etc.) that can take most size packages up to the size of a shoebox (and I specifically request plain first class mail, nothing with delivery confirmation).

Fly over once a year to pick them up, or if unable, have a relative or friend do it. For large packages, just have my tenants receive it and have them put it in the guest house, to which I allow them key access, although I rarely bother them with that nowadays as more often than not, I can find most of what I want here or from retailers who in the end decided not to limit themselves by not shipping to high risk markets.

Anyhoo, the post office pretty much has no issues with you 'adding' an address to your property. 15 Pascal can be your tenant's address and 15 Pascal A can be your 'official' address, for example. It's an option if you don't want to treat your tenants as your mail handlers.

So, giibaht, has your question been answered on how to have stuff bought on line in the U.S. delivered to a U.S. address for later pick up or transhipping to Thailand ?

Or was it literally as you wrote Is there a similar service in Thailand? ?? Did you want to buy something on line from a Thai merchant that would not ship to the U.S.?

I like to buy online from US online merchants when I'm in Thailand and have them delivered to Thailand :D

Just to share my recent shopping experience doing this in my home country (i.e. not in Thailand):

I placed an order directly on US Garmin website to buy the CityNavigator South East Asia map. I provided a re-shipping U.S. address for the order to get it delivered to my home country. A few days later, Garmin cancelled the order with the following message:

" Due to U.S. Export Administrative Regulations, we are unable to complete your transaction at this time. Please follow the link below to locate a Garmin dealer near you.... " :bah: :bah: :bah:

What a load of crap!!! :realangry: Thankfully there is Amazon.com !!! B)

Anyway, thanks for some posters who suggested a few companies to try. Also, I'm not from the U.S. , so some suggestions don't apply :D

However, I am still hoping there is a Thai-based company that conceivably is able to provide cheaper re-shipping rates into Thailand. Any?
