Father UK National, Mother Thai both living and working in the Netherlands. Baby due in April 2011. Which birth location would provide the baby with the best long term benefits UK, Thailand or the Netherlands?

Thai birth provides no rights but as mother is Thai will be Thai in any case. Other countries do not know and marriage might also come into it.

The birth location would only be important if you yourself where not born in the UK, as it would limit the possibility for your child to pass on British nationality. Assuming you are the child will have British and Thai nationality by way of birth. Just get the birth certificate and be sure to register the birth with both Thai and British embassy.

For the Netherlands the child will be eligible for child support when you work in the Netherlands, the place of birth is of no consequence. If you pay tax in the Netherlands you are eligible.

If not married that will have consequences for your status as father of the child.

1 can't follow 3 passports. British and Thai yes, Dutch no. Dutch nationality would only be available if you or the mother were born in the Netherlands and your parents had their main residency in the Netherlands.
