ORLANDO, FLORIDA (BNO NEWS) -- Female boxing legend Christy Martin on Tuesday was stabbed and shot by her husband and is reported to be seriously injured, local media reported on Wednesday.

Christy Martin, 42, gained fame as the world’s best female boxer in the 1990's. She was able to stop a motorist near Apopka's Deer Lake subdivision at about 6:45 p.m. local time despite been injured. The motorist drove her to Florida Hospital North to treat her injuries.

The doctors found that she was stabbed and shot in the torso and left leg. Police officers were rushed to the scene and the former boxer told them that the attacker was no other that her 66-year-old husband James "Jim" Martin.

Martin said that her husband confronted her inside their home but she managed to escape the residence after being stabbed. Police did not find Jim Martin at their Apopka home but found evidence of a violent struggle.

Records indicate that police officers were called to the couple's residence twice on Tuesday. A caller, who was not Christy Martin, reported that Jim Martin was distraught about the relationship with his wife and was suicidal.

The caller also said that there were weapons inside the residence . He added that Jim Martin called several friends regarding his problems and was concerned for his well-being. Deputies arrived to the residence and found Jim Martin talking with a neighbor and showing no signs of being suicidal, drunk or despondent.

However, deputies were dispatched back about six hours later after Christy Martin was admitted in the hospital with several stab and gunshot wounds. Jim Martin is at large and police forces are looking for him.

Jim Martin was the trainer and publicist for Christy Martin. The female boxer began her career in 1989 and is considered the first true superstar in women's boxing history. In the 1990’s she gained notoriety after signing a contract with promoter Don king and fighting in several pay-per-view fights, including one headlined by Mike Tyson.

"I am shocked and saddened to see this happen to Christy. I send my prayers and well wishes," said boxing promoter Don King.

If TV is posting this kind of news as WORLD NEWS it says something about the growing quality of TV....<_<

is this a 'world news' headline?

How about the thousands of walruses and their pups who died at sea because they couldn't find any ice floes to rest upon? ....the arctic is warming, despite what deniers compel us to believe.

It is an US American news service, http://www.bnonews.com/. A content provider who caters the US American market.

So what we get here is what these Americans consider as "World news."

No matter WHO publishes this kind of BS stories, it's not WORLD news nor important WORLD news.

It's local American news and even there it's probably just sensational tabloid news and not WORLD nor AMERICAN news.

It certainly isn't big news in The New York Times where I had to search....

and found a VERY small article in the sports section:

http://www.nytimes.c...20martin&st=cse

It shows how Thaivisa now considers world news as news

Next please...

There seems to be important and unimportant stories from all over THE WORLD. One can simply skip reading the stories that are deemed unworthy. :whistling:
