is it possible to do a boarder run to Mae Sai to get a 60 day stay on our visa? It will be the 2nd entry on a triple entry visa from Australia. If not is crossing into Laos an option, and will that give us the 60 days?

Help is much appreciated!

Yes it/they will provide a new stay if you have a valid visa. Just be sure to enter the visa information on your return arrival card and check that the proper stamp is made in your passport before you leave the immigration area.

You are aware that you can extend each entry on a tourist visa with 30 days for 1,900 baht?

thank you Mario, Yes we have extended to 90 days after our first 60 days were up. We are now due for the next 60 days so understand that we need to leave the country for this

thank you lopburi3. our concerns were raised after reading the information below, from the 1st stop chiang mai website. your thoughts and suggestions with this are greatly appreciated. We have 2 small children so as you will appreciate the less 'running about' the better!

Your next option is the good old visa run - a well worn route to the Myanmar border in Mae Sai, trampled by dozens daily. Unfortunately, the tourist-unfriendly Home affairs department decided to reduce all overland visa on arrivals to just 15 days, presumably to discourage visa runs, effectively rendering the exercise pointless for multiple extensions.

(Home affairs department?). Immigration sets the rules for entry and it is 15 days by land for most if you use visa exempt entry (and did this a long time ago) rather than allow the previous 30 day entry each time. This has nothing to do with visa entry.

I am wondering what the "date of expiry or use before" date is on the triple entry visa. Seems like most tourist visas I have seen must be used within 3 to 6 months of the date the visa is issued. So make your third entry into Thailand before that "expiry/use before" date that is stamped on the original visa.

Hi TV Gang, I should know the answer to this question, but I do not. I have a 1-year, multi-entry visa. I must exit the country every 3-months to get a new 3-month stamp.

May I exit through Mae Sai on one of those day passes and get my visa stamped for another 3-months?

Thanks!
