My friends and I have been using Twitter to study Thai for the last 6 months or so and found it to be a lot of fun. More and more Thai celebrities and news outlets are using twitter. 140 characters is a manageable length to not get too discouraged. Our favorite is Andrew Biggs as he explains English idioms so well. A friend just gave me a copy of Andrew's new book, Twitter English and am enjoying it very much. Easy reading and good practice. Just thought I'd share...

There's an awful lot of English on your twitter. It's more helpful for me to be reading Thai.
