Skateboard Needed

Featured Replies

Greensanta needs to buy a skateboard to keep junior family member away from the computer. Haven't looked seriously yet so if you've seen a promising looking stockist it would help a lot. Thanks!

Have a look at pro sport at Sun Dok kaw shopping mall. I bought one there a few months ago for around 900 baht.

Thanks. Where is Sun Dok kaw shopping mall (presumably near wat Suan Dok, but I don't know a mall around there)?

Close by, almost next to/behind Chiang Mai RAM hospital, just around the corner of the moat, on the way to Doi Suthep.

Central Kad Suan Kaew, by the sound of it. Pro Sport must be the store on the third floor with all the golfing and camping stuff - I'll check it out, thanks.

Greenside, you might want to check out the skateboard shop on Huay Kaew Rd., as well.

Headed west towards the mountain, just past Irrigation Canal Rd. on the north side of HK.

In a row of shophouses; between the Acer service center and Tsunami restaurant.

Several years ago there was a specialist skate board shop on Huey Kaew Road, heading towards Doi Suthep, past Canal Road 70-80 meters on the right.

They had a good selection and built to order while you waited. Prices similar to the small shops in maze at KSK but better selection.

Good luck in your efforts to promote non-computer activities. It is not easy but well worth any success you achieve.

Edit, same shop as the one Mcgriffith mentioned while I was typing, guess it is still there.

New small shop just opened up by Thapae Gate as well, near Maccy D's.

Hi Greenside. There is a shop on the third floor of Kad Suen Khaew. Get off the escalator and turn right. Go straight ahead and you will walk into it. They sell boards, wheels, shirts and shoes.

Thanks for all the suggestions.

First struggled through the rush hour traffic to the one on Huay Kaew Road just past the junction with Canal Road and almost next door to Lanna 3 Apartments. It's a Serious Skateboard Shop with prices that start at 4500 and, although the man assured me that they were all more expensive in Singapore, I could tell that the mere fact that I was considering the stuff on the beginner's rack had dropped me firmly in the time wasters pigeon hole. Polite but a bit sniffy and anyway my stepson's current record of perseverance doesn't justify an outlay of anything like that.

Pro Sports at Kad Suan Kaew turned out to be just the ticket with a board that looked cool, came in a cool but flimsy bag and left me just 800 baht lighter. I'm sure he'll love it. When he gets on cable TV doing tricks I'll spring for a better one...

Didn't get as far as the one at Thapae Gate but bearing in mind the rents around there I think it would be bound to be nearer to the first one I tried.
