Where To Buy Cold Weather Clothes In Cm

Featured Replies

Hi.

I'm travelling in China in January and wondering where to get some decent cold weather gear in CM as it is going to be very cold there (snow).

I'm talking decent gear not the crappy jackets that are showing up around the place.

Thanks for helping!

China.

Or where stuff from China is sold, such as the Mae Sai market. There is also a shop in Airport Plaza, ground floor near the Krung Thai bank office. But it doesn't strike me as super hard core winter clothing, for which Thailand is not an obvious place, as you can imagine.

For the last 10 yrs, i've bought all my winter clothes at the many 2nd hand clothing shops around town at this time of the year. Good quality for cheap prices and who knows it's 2nd hand......unless you happen to run into the previous owner while traveling.

Another source is the many 'export shops' that carry brand names like 'Columbia' and 'Eddie Bauer' and more. Mostly factory over runs, but sometimes they are rejects and can have flaws......so look carefully.

I do not know about CM, but in Bangkok, I buy winter clothing at MBK. As stated by jaideeguy, brand names like 'Columbia' and 'Eddie Bauer' are available at quite ridiculous prices compared with European ones...

The North Face shop in Siam Discovery (? - not sure one of those malls) had everything North Face but at list price, with is about 2x street in the USA.

If you have some lead time, look into mail ordering from the USA... or buy when you arrive, that seems to be the much smarter thing to do. If it's cold there, they'll sell cold weather clothes...

2nd hand markets in CM works but selection is very limited... "here's 3 coats - choose one".
