United and Continental says expects cancellations in U.S. northeast due to severe weather

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS (BNO NEWS) -- United Continental Holdings, Inc. on Thursday said it expects delays and cancellations at some of its hubs in the U.S. northeast because of severe winter weather conditions.

The airline said weather conditions are expected to make air travel difficult in some regions of the United States, forcing some delays and cancellations of flights at United's hub at Washington Dulles International Airport and Continental's hub at New York / Newark Liberty International Airport.

Operations at other airports throughout the Northeast region may also be affected, the airline added, saying the problems will most likely begin on Christmas day and last through at least Monday.

Customers scheduled on flights to, from or through the impacted areas may reschedule their itinerary with a one-time date or time change, and the change fees will be waived.

Additionally, if a flight has been canceled, a refund of the payment can be requested.
