Can You Get A New Non Imigrant O Visa From A Country That Is Not Your Own?

Featured Replies

Hi, I have a relative who wants to renew her non immigrant Thai O visa for another year but doesn’t want to travel to the UK could she renew it at a Thai consulate in Australia or KL? She is a British citizen (Normal leave the country every 90 days visa)

Thanks for any advice

On what bases?

Retirement, marriage, volunteer work?

Seems they start to implement the same rules in UK.

Unless she has a good reason for wanting a multiple-entry non-immigrant "O" I'd say the chances are not very good.

She can if she meets the requirements. Thai Spouse, Volunteering etc.

She currenty has an o visa as a pensioner having a prolonged stay with us as relatives so wants to renew it but dosent fancy the long flight back to the UK

Bangkok to Brisbane is a 9 hour flight is that much less than going to UK. Brisbane is easy for visa based on marriage but not sure about for other reasons.

Immigration will grant her a 1 year extension of stay if she can show:

800,000 in a bank account in Thailand (must be there for 2 months)

OR

an income of 65,000 a month (letter from embassy confirming her income is enough)

OR

a combination of money in a bank in Tailand and Yearly income totaling at least 800,000 (no seasoning of money in the bank required)

If she can not meet these requirement, in neighbouring countrier she can get a single entry non-O good for a 90 day entry. In Australia she can get a multiple non-O.
