Streaming Video Problems

Featured Replies

Hi

I live out in the sticks in Phetchabun province and have no phone line so I am using a DTECH Edge modem DT-618U for the internet. This works fine for e-mail and general browsing, downloads are pretty slow but still OK

The problem I have is watching video tutorials, video runs for a few seconds then stops (both video and audio) after maybe a minute or more it starts again but stops again after a few second, this continues until the end of the video.

So a 5 minute video takes about 20 or 30 minutes to watch. I am using the latest versions of Firefox and Adobe Flash Player.

Any one have ideas on how to solve this? Just about going crazy

Thanks in advance

Try DownloadHelper,

an addon for Firefox.

It captures the video into a file, then you can watch it a little

later without all the hiccoughs.

what do expect with an aircard? I used dTech aircard when I was in Angthong Teaching for a year, Can use Audio sometimes, Video is a virtual nono, and of course it all depends on the company/service you use and the time of day you are using it, Basically Wifi and other forms of non cable internet is pretty poor in Thailand, Even in Bangkok the Wifi by True sucks

You should be able to get CAT CDMA, I use it and get speeds up to 2.5 MB, it's not perfect but far superior to what you have now.

Out of Bangkok I find DTAC far superior connection to AIS and True. I use the aircards in places like Nakhon Si Thammarat and Kanchanburi when out in the sticks, similarly on Kho Chang where DTAC is the only option. Other than going satellite not much chance. You can of course push download then go get a coffee before playing. Allow it to download first.
