tuky
If one gallon is equal to 4.5 litres, do the math and let us know how fuel price compares to Thailand assuming we are using 95 octane fuel. Answers in Baht please, baht per Litre at home vs baht per litre here in Thailand.
Khun Jean
In the netherlands it is: 0.51 euro per liter + 0.895 for tax = 1.415 euro = 57.25 Baht per liter.

wrestler7902002
Sawatdee Krap, tukyleith: I live in USA part of the year (in northeast part of America). Gas prices vary by locations in America. Since today's catastrophic hit on Gulf Coast by Hurricane Katrina, crude oil and gasoline prices have again risen to an all-time record. At most gas stations here, there are octane grades of 87, 89, 91, 92, 93. Only a very few gas stations in America have 94 or higher octane as in Thailand. I normally buy 87 octane since I drive an older car, lower price than 93 octane, and my car doesn't seem to know the difference between 87 and 93 octane. By liquid measure (USA measurement, not British imperial), there are 3.7854 liters per US gallon. I just filled my car gas tank up one hour ago after the immediate price hikes courtesy Hurricane Katrina. One US gallon (where I live) = 2.70 USD, @ 40 Thai Baht/one US Dollar, that is 108 baht/US Gallon, 108 baht divided by 3.7853 liter, so: 28.53 BAHT/LITER for 87 Octane gasoline. and 93 octane @ 3 USD/gallon would be: 31.70 BAHT/LITER for 93 Octane gasoline. Therefore, 95 Octane fuel would probably cost even more than the above. I believe that gasoline and crude oil prices will continue to rise at least through September. I heard that OPEC may increase production of oil by 1 million barrels per day and President Bush is considering opening up the strategic oil supply here in America. I know that California drivers pay a lot more for gasoline than people on the East coast. And other countries, Britain for example, pay a lot more for gasoline than we do here in America. I do not know the exact figures (I bet that someone will know), but where I live, probably 99% of the drivers are automobile drivers, not motorbike or motorcycle. Those that drive motorcycles ride the Harley Davidsons , not small motorbikes. So Americans do like to drive their cars and use a lot of gasoline, especially with the large SUVs. By the way, what's a liter, millimeter, and kilometer? I don't think that many people here in America have ever heard of the metric system. I heard something about the metric system about 30 years ago, but it never caught on..... Heeee...Heeee.... Wont bother hism much since a couple of weeks ago somebody filled his little boat up with the wrong fuel and nearly ruined his dinner party. Cost to flush out his engines and replace was @ £100,000.00...100 grand ..but hey we have all been there ... What with the congestion charge to drive in the smoke of 600bt a day I will happily stick with my bus pass.

Cost in Saudi 40.5 baht per gallon. Divide gallons and baht by 4.5 to get cost per litre. = 9 baht per litre. Bloody cheap. In Oz at the moment about $A1.15 per litre. 34.5 baht per litre. UK = 66.5 baht per litre

aughie
wrestler is right. Premium gasoline is 92-93 octane here in California. I haven't seen custom supreme octane in years. There is a couple of places in town to buy TRICK racing fuel (R+M/2) 110 octane.
wrestler7902002
Thanks aughie. Question: With so many alleged scams in Thailand (like not resetting the fuel pump gauge back to 000), does anyone really know if you are actually "getting" 95 or 96 octane gasoline when fueling your moto-bike or car when actually paying for 95 or 96 octane gasoline? Could it be that you're really fueling your vehicles with a lower octane fuel like 87 or 89? Who would know? Would your car know? In America, (I guess in many countries, too) the gasoline fuel pumps are certified with a sticker stating that the pump has been certified for true gasoline volume measurement, the octane of the gas, etc. Also, city and state Dept. of Licenses and Inspections come out and randomly test gasoline stations so that you actually get the volume of gasoline you pay for and the true octane rating of the fuel. Have they ever done this testing and certifying in Thailand, and if so, who does the testing? Perhaps another potential scam unraveled? This just might be the "perfect scam." Just a thought....
