GUERRERO, MEXICO (BNO NEWS) -- State Police on Friday found four bodies with heads taped which were thrown to the Mezcala River under a highway in southeastern Mexico.

According to Excelsior newspaper, the four bodies were found under the Solidaridad bridge of the Mexico City-Acapulco highway in Guerrero state at about 9:07 a.m. local time.

The bodies had their heads duct taped and police believe that the four men were thrown to the river alive. However, the identity of the victims as well as the cause of the crime is currently unknown.

Preliminary reports indicate that the men were severely beaten before being tossed from the bridge. Three of the victims were in their mid-30s while the other was 23 years old.

Also in Guerrero state, eight people were killed and two injured overnight in incidents in the touristic Acapulco port. Diverse attacks took place on late Thursday and early Friday. Some vehicles were set on fire as well.

Armed men traveling in diverse vehicles shot at power generators and security cameras in traffic lights to avoid detection while carrying the shootings. The first victim was shot dead at 1:22 a.m. local time in Vicente Guerrero Boulevard in downtown Acapulco.

A 17-year-old boy was killed inside a car and minutes later a second individual was killed in front of a shoe store. At about 1:24 a.m. local time, the third victim was killed and three minutes later a fourth individual was shot while driving a taxi.

The armed men killed one person and injured two more before police officers set blockades at many spots. In order to distract law agents, some vehicles were set on fire at diverse sites.
