Baby + Wife Back To The Uk For A Holiday

Featured Replies

Hello,

Quick question.

Me and my wife live in Bangkok, our son is due to be born next month (which is great) but - i would like to go back to the UK with my wife and son later on this year.

My son will have duel nationality (thai and british) and i am familier with how this will work with showing the passports at the ports of entry etc

However, my wifes UK 2 year marriage visa expired last month (we used to live in the UK).

Do we just go for the tourist visa? There is no need for us to go for the 2 year marriage visa again as we will only be in the uk for a month or so unless it is the only option.

Or, as she is the mother of my child and also my wife is there a special visa?

Please let me know the options

Thank you very much.

Adam

As you don't wish to live in the UK then a visit visa is what you want. As she is your wife and you will, presumably, be visiting your family then she should apply as a family visitor using form form VAF1B.

All the usual requirements and conditions for a visitor apply, but if a family visit application is refused that refusal can be appealed, whereas a general visit refusal can't be.

I would also suggest a brief explanation of what happened with regards to her settlement visa, i.e. why you decided to live in Thailand instead of the UK.
