March 4, 201115 yr Since we are on samui doesn't seem to be many options for internet except Internet over satelitte TOT 3BB god for bid dial up I am using 3BB at my house I paying 2,675 per month for the 5MB Premier, my internet is very reliable at least more than 95% of the time. although with all the promotions from TOT and 3BB regular packages I wonder if I should change or not. I realize latency is a factor regardless of who I go with and internet speeds really don't matter since so many websites are becoming overly bloaded with ads, javascripts etc. I would like to be able to get at least a good solid 8mb download ( i know thats unrealistic ) ability to watch videos without so many buffering ( again unrealistic due to the poor international gateway thailand has download at least some torrent files anyone have better experience than me or pay less than me for a good quality connection internet. Look forward to all your postings on this matter
March 4, 201115 yr Maybe there's a reason I don't know for what appears, compared to my charge, a very high rate. Here in Kathu, I have 3BB and pay 950/month ; can download Torrents, have all the 6 Nations, and watch Utube without breaks.
March 4, 201115 yr Just got TOT for the bar. 6 MB ADSL and it is around the 580 odd baht a month. The speed is very good and can download torrent films in around 30 minutes. It seems you are paying a lot for your package.
March 4, 201115 yr that is seriously excessive. i have an 8mb connection from TOT at home and its like 790thb per month.
March 4, 201115 yr I have recently been changed (no choice) from Maxnet to BBB, same price and speed (3.5) and have noticed two things: 1. The connection is not 100% reliable, at least 3 times a week there is no connection at all - only for about 10-15 min but I don't care: I pay for a permanent connection... 2. This is strange - I suspect BBB is caching sites, so you get a saved version rather than connecting to the site every time you ask for it. This is perhaps not too bad with most sites if they cache often, but it can be a problem, I found out the hard way: a gold trading site I use automatically updates prices in real time, but I kept getting the same page - showing the same time each time it refreshed! It took me a while to realise this, obviously the prices were not changing and I missed an important opportunity - it cost me money. I fixed the second problem by using https: instead of http:, but this doesn't work for all sites. I will be contacting TOT on Monday.
March 4, 201115 yr Regarding speed, as I stated above I use a 3.5Mb connection and I have no problems downloading torrents (roughly 50gb download per month) and I watch streamed sport events (golf, F1, cricket) with almost no problems (The difficult thing is finding a reliable stream - often the problem is not with your connection but with the site itself being swamped). I have learnt to be creative in finding streams - google is not the way to go. When I joined Maxnet a few years back I was told they offered two packages - Premier and Home (I think it was called Home) - Premier was the only choice for me as the Home package blocked torrents and shared a small gateway for international traffic - it was meant for local browsing. I have no idea what BBB is doing but I suspect they are just allowing torrents and there is no premier gateway at all now. As I said earlier my overall experience is negative with BBB. In case you are wondering, I have a 3.5Mb connection because it was upgraded free by Maxnet every time they upped their minimum speed - all the way back from 512kb I started on. I see BBB minimum is now 6mb but they obviously don't provide the same reward for long term customers...

March 4, 201115 yr http://www.3bb.co.th/promotion/no_number.php What's the difference between indy and premier?
March 4, 201115 yr http://www.3bb.co.th...n/no_number.php What's the difference between indy and premier? Oops in my post earlier I referred incorrectly to the package as "Home" but it is "Indy". The supposed difference is also described therein: When I joined Maxnet a few years back I was told they offered two packages - Premier and Home (I think it was called Home) - Premier was the only choice for me as the Home package blocked torrents and shared a small gateway for international traffic - it was meant for local browsing. March 5, 201115 yr u need to check your internet speed. for example. i wanted to up grade my package but they give me free 7 day trial and it was not any faster because the line was too weak. to give me more power. so i stayed on the 1000 baht package. rarther than paying more for the same signal. u need to measure how far your line is from the box and how many people share the box cause for real u can buy 10 mbs but u will probably get the same as a 2 mbs. i think u can buy a business line which means that u own the whole box yourself and if u get 4 mbs then u get the real 4 mbs. its more expensive and it looks the same on paper but for real the download will be allot more fastere
