I have a small problem. At the moment the only stick -as far as I know-which can be used for a 64 bit system is the Novatel stick issued by CAT.But CAT wants a monthly contract.I have tried other companies like TOT but the only supply sticks for the 32 bit system.Does anybody have an advise? Can one upgrade?

I have Novatel MC760 and it works with 64 Bit, however they have stopped selling this modem at least that I was told by store in pantip plaza CM last week. Have you considered a Cradlepoint router or MiFi they sell, the modem plugs into those devices then you can use wireless or with cradle point Ethernet cable to connect to.

Agree here, I have the 727 model which predates the 760 ... Initially had problems when I upgraded to 64 bit, with W7 but running over a year now, just fine..... It seems to be taking CAT or perhaps Novatel a long time to come up with the next model...to the 760...

Last I asked at our local Samui CAT office, they said to wait until the next MiFI model comes, since they said it has problems.... ? although not read anyone posting that they are having problems with the MiFi model on T.V .here...

The cradlepoint routers are brilliant.

Going to have to check that out, I've not seen them displayed here yet...

Can you give an idea of what distance the Cradle point signal will travel... ? My D link won't quite reach the suite at the back of my place.... perhaps 20 metres (although a few walls of concrete to penetrate....)

The CAT dealer in Pantip Plaza Chiang Mai has Cradlepoint routers up to the MBR1000, I have a MBR1200 which I bought on EBay from USA, it has VPN, 1GB Lan and supports up to 5 modems as well as ADSL and cable internet. I am using it with the internal antennas and get at least 50 metres on low power and the router is in a room with concrete walls. There are external antennas that can be added to it to give a claimed range of 780 feet.

The Modem the OP wants is for Cat CDMA, the modems you mention do not work with it.

Sorry did not realise this was on the CDMA network in fact I had not read the post properly and realised it was Chiang Ma or not within the 3G "trial areas". Interesting to see what will happen with the CDMA network in it current format once the carrier have rolled out their 3G offering mind you it could be a long time!
